Road pricing reform remains a challenge and is highly contentious, especially with politicians. While the economic theory is well developed the real challenge is how we can demonstrate benefits to users and treasuries as a way of ‘convincing’ politicians that those who vote will benefit. ‘Buy in’ remains the central challenge and in this talk Professor David Hensher will provide evidence on ways to demonstrate that most car users will be better off in terms of cost and travel time as well as treasuries.
